Why does e-Boks use cookies?

The website places cookies on the user's equipment (computer, mobile phone and the like) to optimise communication between the website and the user's browser. Cookies are set up both for visits to the open section of e-Boks (before login) and to the closed section (after login).

What is the benefit of cookies?

First of all, cookies help to make the website more user-friendly and offer convenient functions. Without cookies, visitors would have to do without many functions and fixed settings of user preferences, such as the language or font size you have selected, etc.

Are cookies my digital footprint?

Yes! Cookies that stay on your device after you leave a website contain information about your browsing behaviour. But the only party who can read the cookie is the party that placed the cookie on the device. Therefore, your "digital footprint", i.e. the cookie, helps to recognise you and provide the service you are expecting.

Do cookies contain sensitive personal data?

In e-Boks, we do not store personal data in our cookies.

Can I be warned about cookies before I visit a website?

It is also possible to limit the acceptance of cookies to include only the services/websites you have visited. All browsers contain functions which enable the selective deletion of cookies. It is not possible to log in to e-Boks if you have set up your browser to reject cookies.

The lifetime of a cookie varies depending on how the individual websites have set them up. A session cookie will typically disappear as soon as you close your browser window. Other types of cookies can exist for several years.

What is a third-party cookie?

A cookie that is saved by both the website and analysis programs. Statistical data, for instance, is used by the website and is sent to the vendor of the statistics program. These cookies are usually not traceable to individual users. At e-Boks, we use SiteCatalyst (owned by Adobe) as an analysis program.

How are cookies deleted?

If you do not want to keep cookies you can always delete them, and you can still navigate the sections of e-Boks that do not require you to log on.

You cannot access the closed sections of e-Boks without having set up your browser to accept cookies, but you can delete your cookies after each visit, of course.
